North Newton Music Booster Bylaws


​ARTICLE I
 
North Newton Jr./Sr. High School Music Boosters
 
            Section 1. Name.  This organization shall be known as the North Newton Jr./Sr. High School Music Boosters.
 
            Section 2. Objectives.  The objectives of the Organization shall be as stated in Article II.
 
ARTICLE II
 
Membership
 
            Section 1.  Objectives.  The objectives of this organization are to support and promote the music program of North Newton Jr./Sr. High School through fund raising efforts, recruitment, and encouragement of parent volunteers and the establishment of goals, aims and direction for the music program.
 
            Section 2.  Members.  The membership of the Organization shall consist of parents or guardians of band and choir members and other individuals who are active supporters of the organization.
 
            Section 3.  Vote.  Each member shall have one vote only at a meeting of the members.
 
 
 ARTICLE III
 
Government
 
            Section 1.  Officers.  The officers of the Organization shall consist of a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer, elected as provided in Section 1 of Article V of these Bylaws.
 
            Section 2.  President as committee member.  The President shall be a member, ex officio, of all committees.
  
ARTICLE IV
 
Meetings
 
            Section 1.  Monthly meetings of members.  The monthly meeting of members of the Organization shall be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the choir room of North Newton Jr./Sr. High School.
 
            Section 2.  Special meetings of members.  Special meetings of members may be called by the President at any time of his/her own initiative or by the President or Secretary upon request of five members to such officer made in writing.  Notice of the meeting shall be given to each member at least three days previous to the meeting, and at such special meeting there shall only be considered such business as it specified in the notice of meeting.
 
            Section 3.  Order of business.  At all meetings of the Organization, the order of business shall be as follows:

Reading and approval of minutes of immediate prior meeting.
Reports of officers
Reports of committees
Unfinished business
New business
Reading and approval of meeting just held if requested.
 

  ARTICLE V
 
Election of Officers
 
            Section 1.  Election of Officers.  The general membership shall elect from among their number a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer.  The meeting of the membership to elect officers shall be the January meeting of members.  Officers elected shall hold offices for one (1) calendar year (January to January) at which time new officers will be elected.
 
 ARTICLE VI
 
Vacancies of Office
 
            Section 1.  Vacancies of Office.  If a vacancy occurs among the officers, the vacancy shall be filled by a general election to fill the vacated office.
 
 ARTICLE VI
 
Duties of Officers
 
            Section 1.  President.  The President shall preside at all meetings of the Organization and shall appoint such committees as he/she shall consider expedient or necessary.
 
            Section 2.  Vice-President.  In the absence of the President, the Vice-President shall perform his/her duties, and, in the absence of both President and Vice-President, the Treasurer shall preside and assume the duties of the President.
 
            Section 3.  Secretary.  The secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings of the Organization and shall mail out all notices for meeting of the Organization.  He/she shall perform such other duties as may be required by the Bylaws or the President.
 
       Section 4.  Treasurer.  The treasurer shall take charge of all receipts and moneys of the Organization, deposit them in the name of the Organization in a bank approved by the membership and disburse funds as ordered or authorized by the designated officers.  He/she shall keep regular accounts of his/her receipts and disbursements, submit his/her record when requested, and give an itemized statement at regular meetings of the Organization.  He/she shall sign checks and withdrawal slips on behalf of the Organization upon any and all of its bank accounts, and the same shall be honored on the signatures of two of the following:  President, Secretary  & Treasurer.
 
            Section 5.  Execution of instruments.  The President and the Secretary or the Treasurer shall, on being so directed by the Organization, sign all leases, contracts, or other instruments in writing.
