The NNJH Band and Choir performed at ISSMA on April 1/2. They both received gold ratings! The choir received a gold with distinction with a near perfect score! The NNHS Band and Choir performed at ISSMA on April 8/9. They both received unanimous gold ratings with some of the lowest scores in school history! The Spring Concert was held last night and we had an outstanding turnout of support. The kids did a great job ending the year with some fine music! Updated 3/10 The NN JH Band and JH Choir will be competing down at Seeger Memorial Jr-Sr HS on April 1 and 2 for the ISSMA JME Organizational Festival. The highlighted groups have their itinerary linked. Hope to see you all there for support! Updated 3/8 The NN Vocal Jazz and Jazz Band competed at Portage HS on 3/4 and 3/5. The Jazz Band earned a Silver rating and the Vocal Jazz Choir earned a unanimous Gold rating! Congrats to their hard work! Updated 3/2 The Instrumental Solo and Ensemble kids performed well this year at their given ISSMA events. The following earned gold ratings this year at District: Advancing to State in Indianapolis were: R. Tharp, S. Mathis (Gold @ State), M. Bowler, R. Williams (Gold @ State), Williams Trio, Mathis Trio (Gold @ State) and the Bowler Trio Also earning Gold ratings were J. Spoor, J. Mathis, J. Humble, U. Holloway, E. Holloway, and the Levy Ensemble. Earning Silver ratings were C. Humble, O. Battleday, The Battleday Brass, and the Humble Brass ensembles. The Vocal Solo and Ensemble kids performed well this year at their given ISSMA events. The following earned gold ratings this year at District: U. Holloway (piano and solo), A. Blann, A. Stalewski, A. Tellez, K. Mencl, Goetz Ensemble, Mick Ensemble Earning gold ratings and advancing to State were C. Michaels, R. Williams, and H. LaCosse and the Williams Ensemble. Earning Silver ratings were A. Goetz, E. Allen, Alexander Ensemble, Michaels Ensemble, Nugent Ensemble, Barron Ensemble, Holloway Ensemble Very proud of all their hard work! Updated 10/6 The Spartan Alliance performed at the 2021 ISSMA Marching Band Festival at Crown Point HS and received a Gold Rating! These kids have worked EXTREMELY hard for the past 4 months, and it showed this past Saturday! #BLUE! Updated 9/13 The Spartan Alliance performed at Hobart HS and received a Silver Rating and a Music Achievement! Updated 8/21 The Spartan Alliance performed at Kokomo HS and received a very hard earned Unanimous Gold Rating! Updated 5/2 The HS Choir received a unanimous Gold Rating for the Virtual ISSMA Contest this Spring! These kids performed very well! Hats off to an excellent year! Updated 4/26 The HS Band received a unanimous Gold Rating for the Virtual ISSMA Contest this Spring earning them the ISSMA All-Music Award for the first time ever!!! It was an awesome year for the HS Band!!! Updated 3/29 The Spring Concert will be held on April 20, 2021 at 6 pm in the NNHS Gym. Use Door 7 for entrance. A Free Will Donation will be appreciated. Updated 3/29 The JH Band received a unanimous Gold Rating for the Virtual ISSMA Contest this Spring earning them the ISSMA All-Music Award!!! The JH Choir earned a Silver Rating for the Virtual ISSMA Contest. Great semester for the JH Groups! Updated 12/18 Every NNSC Band and Choir 7-12 earned a Gold Rating for the Virtual ISSMA Contest. 37 Golds and 2 Silver for ISSMA Solo and Ensemble too! Great semester with many COVID ups and downs! Updated 8/31 We will be having concert attire fitting for both the HS Band and Choir. HS Band will be on 9/16 and HS Choir will be on 9/17 from 2:30-3:30. Basketball season is here for the pep band and solo and ensemble rehearsals are in full swing. Check the calendar for important dates coming up! See you soon! Updated 10/7/19 The NNHS Spartan Alliance traveled to Crown Point HS on Saturday for the ISSMA Festival Marching Band Competition. The kids marched and played wonderful! They received a Gold Rating! The season ends on Oct. 18 at the Senior Night Football Game. They want to thank you for all your support! Updated 9/29/19 The NNHS Spartan Alliance traveled to Kankakee Valley HS on Saturday for the KV Marching Band Invitational. The kids marched and played wonderful! They received their first Gold Rating and a percussion achievement award! Great improvements were made in a short two weeks! Next up is the day we've been working so hard for and that's the ISSMA Festival at Crown Point HS, on Saturday, October 5. Performance time is 2:57 CST. Updated 9/18/19 The NNHS Spartan Alliance has been working hard for their upcoming season! Hear them play their entire show this Friday, 9/20 at our homecoming Football Game against West Central! Updated 9/15/19 The NNHS Spartan Alliance performed in their first ever marching band festival yesterday at Hobart HS. They received a Silver rating! We are extremely proud of these students and all of their hard work! Updated 9/5/19 The NNHS Spartan Alliance have been working hard for their upcoming season! Hear them play their entire show this Friday, 9/6 at our home Football Game against North Judson! On 9/14, they will be travelling to Hobart HS for their first ever competition! They have committed to building a marching band and putting a show together for 2019. They will be performing at 3 competitions, including the ISSMA Festival Contest at Crown Point HS on Oct. 5. If you see any of the kids, tell them they are doing great! Updated 5/1/19 The NNHS Choirs have earned the ISSMA All-Music Award for 2019! Only 29 other High Schools in Indiana received this award. A Big Congratulations to those students! Updated 4/7/19 The HS Band and Choir went to KVHS on Friday and Saturday, respectively, and both earned a Gold Rating. Both ensembles performed their music the best they have ever to date. I am extremely proud of all of the students! Updated 3/13/19 The Junior High Band competed at the J.M.E. ISSMA Festival at Benton Central HS on 3/7. They performed great and received a unanimous Gold Rating! Updated 3/4/19 The NNHS Jazz Choir competed at the Vocal Jazz ISSMA Festival at Portage HS on 3/2. They are the first Jazz Choir under Mr. Redlin's direction. They performed great and earned a Gold Rating! Updated 2/27/19 The Spring Concert will be held on May 21st, in the NNHS Gym at 7 pm. This is a change from earlier this year with the hand book and from recent years with the start time. Updated 9/25 The HS Band has been very busy marching this year. Great things are happening around the music program. The HS Choir numbers are up by nearly 10 students. The JH Band and Choirs are going great thus far along with the addition of a 2 day/3 school rotating schedule (second time per week) for elementary band! Updated 4/16 The HS Band and Choir went to Hanover Central Schools this past weekend and performed in their ISSMA contests. The HS Band improved drastically since Spring Break, but with harsh judging, they received 2 silvers and 1 gold for an overall Silver Rating. The HS Choir performed wonderful and received 2 golds and 1 silver for an overall Gold Rating! I am extremely proud of these students and all of their hard work! Updated 3/15 The High School Band will be performing this Friday, March 16, at Mt. Ayr Community Center! The dinner will begin at 5:30 with the band playing from 5:45-6:15 (est). Congratulations to Austin Belt, who earned a Silver Rating while participating in the State ISSMA Instrumental Solo and Ensemble on February 24! Updated 1/31 Congratulations to the following singers that participated in the ISSMA Vocal Solo and Ensemble on Saturday, January 27: Maddie Binge, Sara Will, Tristan Micula, Cayden Coria, Bobbi Paulsen, Anna Hooks, Shannon Kucaj all received a Gold Rating and are advancing to state on Feb 17. Molly Bowler, Madison Nilsen, Dayna Parsons, Cameryn Michaels, Grace Alexander, Marissa Rowe all received a gold rating. Sarah George, Phoebe Busboom, Andrew Williams, Darren Stasi, Kane Jones, and Reese Telford all received Silver Ratings! Katie Garwick received a Bronze Rating! Great job Spartan singers!!! Updated 1/10 The kids have signed up for solo and ensemble and are in full out practice mode- class time and after school practicing! Contest music is right around the corner! The HS Band is hosting their 2nd annual Alumni night on Feb. 9! The Band Boosters are holding Taco Night on Feb. 16 during the boys basketball game and will be around during the lip sync! Updated 11/9 The ensembles are in full swing preparing for the Winter Concert. Update: Winter Concert is now on Dec. 11, not Dec. 12, the original date, due to a scheduling conflict. Come out and Support the program!!! Updated 9/19 The High School Choir is off to a fast start. They are currently working on real-life experience projects in which they would need to use music. The High School Band has been performing at football games and marching this year. Changes are definitely coming! Updated 9/8 The High School Band Room has been transformed!!! The band program has been upgraded with the arrival of new instrument storage cabinets! Updated 9-1 The High School band has been performing at football games! Marching and playing pep band!! Come out on 9/15 to support the band and the 50th Homecoming of NN! Updated 7-27 Happy Summer! Please make sure all HS Band students are aware of our upcoming rehearsals in August. These are mandatory and have been on the schedule! Updated 5-30 There will be a graduation rehearsal for the HS Band on Friday, June 2nd, starting around 10:55. Graduation will be held on June 4th in the HS Gym at 2 pm. Call time for the HS Band is 12:30 pm. Please wear contest attire. Updated 5-23 The Annual Spring Music Banquet will be held on May 25th at 6 pm in the HS Cafe. The following students need to bring these items to the banquet: 7th grade- a dozen hawaiian rolls; 8th grade- a dessert; 9th & 10th grade- a cold side; 11th & 12th grade- a hot side. Please see the complete itinerary here. Updated 5-15 Tonight, I am hosting instrument signups and display night for all elementary students in grades 4 and 5 and their parents. This will begin at 3:30 and go until 6:30 in the HS Band Room. If you are still trying to decide on joining...click here... Here in the next few weeks, the HS Band will be marching in their first parade in over a decade. The Morocco Homecoming Parade is on May 28 at 3 pm. Come support the band! Updated 4-14 On Friday, the High School Band traveled to the elementary schools to put on recruitment concerts. There was a lot of interest, smiles, and dancing!! Instrument testing will begin on May 10. Updated 4-12 Another Spring Concert is in the books! Words cannot express the feeling I have about the my ensembles. They all performed very well and I am proud to be their director!!! Updated 4-10 Congrats to the High School Band for receiving their fourth consecutive gold rating at ISSMA contest this past weekend! The band went in group 3 for the first time under the direction of Mr. Redlin and had sight-reading count towards their overall score. They did great! Another congrats to the High School Choir as well! They went in Group IV and finally got that first gold rating with Mr. Redlin. All 3 judges gave them a gold rating! The HS Band will be performing at Kankakee Valley High School on Friday, April 7, at 6 pm. The HS Choir will be performing at Kankakee Valley Middle School on Saturday, April 8, at 9:18 am. Updated 3-17 This evening, the 7th & 8th grade band traveled to McCutcheon HS to perform in their very first ISSMA contest. The band performed well and earned a Silver rating. We are very proud of these students and look forward to the Spring concert! Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the band. It was great seeing that many people there!!! Updated 3-16 The 7th and 8th grade band students will need to be dressed in their concert attire prior to the start of 7th period tomorrow. The music boosters will be providing a sack "dinner" for the ride home from McCutcheon High School tomorrow after contest. The students' parents who cannot make contest tomorrow evening, the kids have been instructed to call or text when we are leaving Lafayette! Go Spartans! Updated 3-14 The 7th and 8th grade Band will be going to McCutcheon High School on Friday, March 17, for the ISSMA organizational contest.
